Have a Dreams

Posted: 15 November 2011 in Bahasa Inggris

Your young people shall see visions, your old people shall dream dreams. -Acts 2:17The fear of failure keeps most people from believing that God can and will make their dreams come true. They are afraid to try. I often think of Christy Wilson, that great missionary to Kabul, Afghanistan.

The major industry in Kabul was raising sheep, and the major problem in raising sheep was a disease caused by a worm that gets in the intestines of the sheep when they eat snails.

Now ducks love to eat these snails, but Christy noticed there were no ducks in Afghanistan. He wrote to a friend in the states and asked for some fertilized duck eggs. Twenty-four fertilized duck eggs were sent. His friend said, “They will hatch, provided the eggs are not dropped, they get there on time and the temperature stays warm. In other words, it will take a miracle.” By the time they arrived in Kabul, some were broken, they were cracked and smelly. Christy said, “We’ll just have to pray that we get at least one male and one female.”You can guess what happened: only two eggs hatched, a male and a female. They multiplied and eventually wiped out the snails and the sheep industry boomed. God took Christy’s dream and worked a miracle because he decided to try.

I have a dream. I am testing it to see if my positive dream is God’s dream!

Good Luck and Bad Luck

You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, and high is your right hand. -Psalm 89:13

I enjoy the inspiring story of the Chinese farmer who had one son and one horse. One day the horse ran off to the hills. Everybody came and said, “Oh, you lost your horse; what bad luck! The old Chinese farmer replied, “How do you know it is bad luck?” And sure enough, that night the one horse came back and led twelve wild stallions with him. The one son closed the gate and the farmer had thirteen horses.

The neighbors came again and exclaimed, “Oh, what good luck!” The old farmer answered, “How do you know it is good luck?” And sure enough, as the one son was to break one of the wild stallions, he was thrown off and broke his leg. The neighbors lamented, “Oh what bad luck.” Again, the Chinese farmer questioned, “How do you know it is bad luck?”

A short time later a Chinese warlord came through town and drafted all the able-bodied young men and took them off to war with him. Those young men never returned. But the farmer’s one son was spared and so he lived a full, long life.

Trust your dream to God. Your dream is God’s dream and His purpose is to turn you and me into good stewards of his rich resources.

Don’t Quit

If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move … and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you. -Matthew 17:20

The fifth principle that will give you the confidence that God will help you make your dream come true is to tie it down. DON’T QUIT!

One of the elders of our church suffered a severe heart attack some years ago. It was a twenty-five minute cardiac arrest. When they got him to the hospital he was in a comatose condition. The neurosurgeon said, “There’s no hope for him. Even if he lives, he’ll be a vegetable.”

I came to his bedside shortly after his attack and remembered what Dr. Smiley Blanton, the eminent New York psychiatrist, once said, “There are vast undamaged areas in the most severely damaged brain.” I believed him, so I said to my special friend, “Stanley, this is Dr. Schuller. You’re going to get well.”

And a tear rolled down out of his eye! It was the first sign of hope! And Stanley grabbed hold of a dream, even in his comatose condition – the dream that he could recover.

Several months later, Stan’s wife drove him to the church and he walked around without crutches! I ran to him and hugged him. He said, “Pastor, you’re great.” I answered, “Stanley, God is great!”

Don’t quit! Only you can kill God’s dream for you. He will not let your dream come smashing down.

Lord, I feel like shouting because I am confident that together, we will succeed!

Special relationship with God

“If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him and he with Me.” -Revelation 3:20

I once spoke with a young woman who showed me a beautiful diamond ring that a certain young man had just given her. She was excited about the commitment she had made to the future with this young man.

I told her, “You know what it means when you accept that diamond engagement ring. It means you make a commitment to him and he makes a commitment to you. There is a growing relationship between the two of you and you both begin to build your whole future on that commitment. You trust him and he trusts you. Now you share secrets with him that you wouldn’t share with anyone else, including me.” Then I told her, “You known becoming a Christian is pretty much like receiving that diamond.”

She nodded her head and replied, “I understand and I want to make that same kind of commitment to Jesus Christ.”

God offers you a diamond to wear on your heart and accepting God’s diamond is as simple as opening a door when you hear someone knock. Invite Jesus Christ into your life and enjoy a future rich in a trusting relationship with the Eternal and Almighty God.

God, I want a special relationship with you, therefore, I commit my life and future to You.
